If
you are having problems with your employer, you can not necessarily
go out and file a lawsuit. First, you have to make your employer
aware of the problem and give them the opportunity to correct the
situation. If they do not take any action, or if the action taken
is not helpful, then you need to file a charge with the outside
governmental agency. However, there are very strict time deadlines
for filing the charge. If you do not file the charge in time, you
may not be able to file a lawsuit.
If you can not file a lawsuit, then you may not be able to get your
job back, or receive some form of compensation for your problems.
Chapter Five explains and details these strict time deadlines, and
describes how to properly file a charge with the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
